To all the couples, lovers, boyfriends and girlfriends, husbands and wives, dreamers of love to come, and the hopeful ones that long for love to continue on…

May you know and experience the deep compassion and rich power of love this day. May you feel an overwhelming appreciation and desire from those around you, people whom you hold most dear. May the richness of love and desire wash over you like a tide wave, that your life and your relationship would be covered in love. May you find that love is not stagnant, but an every growing and moving river of life. May you uncover new ways to express exactly how you feel, even if doing so makes you look and feel like a fool. May you realize that love, while a common and misunderstood term today, is an eternal power that shapes and changes your universe. May you know that power, a power that in some part you have, to make someone’s life a little bit brighter, a little bit fuller. And may you give yourself to the power of love and let someone else’s love change you.

To all those lonely hearts, the broken, the dumped, the divorced, the widowed and widower, to the abandoned and left alone…

May you realize that this feeling, the hurt, the ache in your chest, the loneliness that envelopes you, is simply that, a feeling. That this position, this moment you find yourself in is not the end. This is not your final destination. May you know, deep in your bones, that you were created for relationship, that you were made to love. May you know that, despite all the feelings and hurt, there are those close by that do care, that do worry about you, that do love you. May you understand that this is just a point in the story of your life, not the sum total.

You will heal from your hurt. You will no longer feel an ache in your chest, but it will be full of passion and desire and love. There will come a day when you will no more be allowed at the Lonely Hearts Club, because you will have company. You will be surrounded by friends and family, and maybe even a lover. While feeling abandon or alone maybe all you feel now, know this, that you can be reunited with those that have gone on before you. You will see those you have lost again. And that overwhelming feeling of love will be yours once more.

And to everyone, the loved, the loveless, the unloved, the lovers, the husbands and wives, the widows and widowers, the boyfriends and girlfriends, and everyone that says “It’s Complicated” on Facebook…

While you are running around this Valentines Day, may you know, may you be ensnared by the very real Love of God. May you be overwhelmed by the grace that He had shown you. May you be knocked down in awe of the great compassion that He has, even when we abandon Him, degrade Him, misrepresent His name, and abuse His affection for us. May you be consumed by the every present reality of His love. A love that is so vast and is so pure that from it stems all other loves. All expressions of love find their origins in Him. May you look to Him for your inspiration for loving others. May you see what He has done for you as the purest form of love, that He laid down His life for you.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3.16 NIV

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5.8

“We love Him because He first loved us.”

1 John 4.19

May you, where ever you find yourself this day, in whatever relationship you are in, may you know love, and know that it is God that is love and that He loves you.
